In order to maintain the community that is essential to scholarly work, this class is based on synchronous class meetings and asynchronous individual and group assignments.

To get credit for the course, you need regularly to be part of the intellectual life of the class. Attendance at the class meetings is required, and we miss you when you're gone. If you are absent for one of the meetings, I will follow up by email and perhaps also a one-on-one conversation, to see how you're doing and to help you maintain your connection to the class community and our work together.
