Point 4: Reading Aloud

Read your work out loud, in full voice, at a comfortable, leisurely pace. If you do this in your room, attracting the mockery of hallmates and passersby, feel free to blame your lunatic teacher. Do not, however, cut corners by reading silently or hurriedly; done well, this process will help you hear your prose as a reader will hear it. Another, similar approach is to have a machine read your writing to you. See this Lifehacker post and comments about ways to do that.
