Point 16: Paragraphing

Make the paragraph your unit of composition. (Strunk and White explain this principle on pages 15 to 17 of The Elements of Style [fourth edition]. Here is Strunk's 1918 formulation of the same rule ; you can look at that and then click your "Back" button to return to the Inspection.) To check this point, look at each sentence within a paragraph and make sure it follows clearly and necessarily from the previous one.
