D. &#8220;Bloom&#8217;s Death in &#8220;Ithaca,&#8221; or the END of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ulysses<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.&#8221; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Journal of Modern Literature<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, vol. 31 no. 2, 2008, pp. 39-52. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Project MUSE<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, muse.jhu.edu\/article\/233963.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In this journal, Bertolini examines the possibility that Leopold Bloom may have died in Episode 17 \u201cIthaca.\u201d The journal looks at the relationship between both Molly and Bloom and how from the beginning we see the ways in which they communicate are often attributed to the unspoken. This idea that such communication exists, paired with the notion that there is tension between fact and opinion, shows how the narrative technique begins to take shape using a series of questions and answers. Bertolini references Hugh Kenner, who says that \u201cBloom\u2019s question is a response to \u2018a murmur the narrator has not transcribed\u2019 or to a nonexistent question he calls a \u2018no-murmur\u2019 or \u2018no-questions\u2019 \u201c (42) The fact that there is such a technique illustrates to the reader that information does not necessarily need to be communicated out loud, as demonstrated by Bloom and Molly, and Bloom\u2019s moments of streams of consciousness.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bertolini, C.
